California Roadtrip: Part 1

Untitled Untitled

This past December Ryan and I were lucky enough to go on a little adventure with our dear friends, The Kelso Family. We went on a road trip up to Lake Tahoe, where we stayed a few days. Then we headed west to San Francisco, where we spent a day exploring the city (which I am now in love with). After that we slowly made our way down the coast, stopping in Carmel, Big Sur, and San Luis Obispo.

We had an amazing trip and were so blessed to get to travel and see more of this incredibly beautiful state. I’m going to share our journey in three parts, this first part being some photos from Lake Tahoe. Stay tuned for parts 2 & 3!

San Diego!

Last weekend Ryan and I went on a last minute trip to San Diego. We were blessed with three free nights at a beautiful resort in Carlsbad.  I’ve been wanting to take a trip to San Diego for a while now, so I was super excited for the opportunity. We ventured to downtown San Diego where we had lunch and shopped around the Gaslamp Quarter for a while. Nice little area with lots of fun stores. And I found two cute dresses for less than $20 each so I’d consider that a win.  ;)

Then we headed over to Old Town San Diego, where we walked around the market, sipped on some lemonade, and relaxed in the open park area. Was a beautiful day for exploring…

Loved our little weekend adventure. It helped to satiate my ever-present need to travel. Well, at least for the time being.

Caprese Bites

Untitled
This last weekend Ryan and I went on a last minute trip to Carlsbad (a town near San Diego). Hope to edit and post some pictures from our trip soon… but in the meantime I wanted to share one of my favorite quick appetizers. These little caprese bites are easy to make and you may have most of the ingredients on hand already. Perfect for if you are having guests over or are just craving a yummy late-night snack.

What You’ll Need:

  • Toothpicks
  • Basil
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Mozzarella Balls
  • Balsamic Glaze
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper

Directions:

Place a basil leaf onto the toothpick, followed by a tomato, and mozzarella ball. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze, add salt & pepper (to taste), and enjoy!

Come Sail Away

A few weeks ago Ryan and I went sailing out on the harbor to celebrate our friend Monty’s birthday. It was really cloudy, which at first may have seemed like a bummer, but it was actually really beautiful. I loved the way the sun was pouring through the clouds.

Monty & his wife Christa are very dear to us. When we first moved to California they opened up their home to us and allowed us to live with them for a few weeks until we found our own place. They are now like family to us, and we’re very grateful to have them. ♥

Date at the park

The other night Ryan and I headed to the park near our house for some reading & relaxing. There’s this beautiful tree that is perfect for reading under. The weather was amazing and we read & talked until the sun went down. I think I could do this every single night and not get tired of it. Feeling really blessed and grateful that I get to live in this beautiful state.
